The Situations in the GOA and OCA

The internet is rife with discussion about financial scandals in the Greek Archdiocese of America and The Orthodox Church in America (OCA), the two largest jurisdictions: millions allegedly missing or owed from jurisdictional or parish coffers, firings, resignations, threats, dire warnings, charges, side-taking, etc etc etc.

I have no inside information, have no idea whom to listen to or trust or what to believe or disbelieve. My blog is not a general Orthodox news or current affairs blog. Just be assured that these problems aren't utterly consuming life in these jurisdictions, nevermind impugning Orthodoxy as a Church or a Faith. All organizations have these problems, Churches sadly are not exempt.

Let us pray for those involved, and those affected. The ultimate meaning of a scandal is something that presents a problem for belief. But the scandal of humanity at all, is healed by the Incarnation, life on earth, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension into Heaven of Our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ. Those of us who aren't involved, let's keep that perspective.
